( V1 and V2....the designers of which the Americans spirited over to the US to create the moon landing rockets ....which tho i sound like i mind... I'm cool about )

The Islands are famous the world over for the breed of beautiful cow (jersey / guernsey ) that produces highly creamed milk, but to people over 50 here, the Channel islands ( before the advent of cheap airflights and the channel tunnel of today ) were looked apon, along with Devon and Cornwall and many other coastal towns, as Holiday destinations in the seventies and before.

That said...with the recession biting hard now...such places are starting to look like cheap options, if we get a good summer.

D of O.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3515218627607939514.post-50724296872372924402008-12-20T16:10:00.000-06:002008-12-20T16:10:00.000-06:00Everything is just some direction from London to u...Everything is just some direction from London to us Yanks. Your holiday destination is only a 3 hour drive for me. Holiday destination for us means no less than 11 to 12 hours driving.

I sent the Tiger Moth article because it just seemed so British!

The Islands off France look very interesting. They never registered on my radar screen before. Of course, I wasn't landing on cows in a Tiger Moth either last time across the pond.

Sir Hook the Cow Stormer of WarrickdkWellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14036130304612683613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3515218627607939514.post-36588410541250115112008-12-20T08:46:00.000-06:002008-12-20T08:46:00.000-06:00My first reaction to this piece was that it was ve...My first reaction to this piece was that it was very moo-ving, but that's to obvious.

One of my favorite movies of all time is "The Blue Max", a great WWI story.
SO, I had always wanted to fly in a bi-plane. I finally got my chance a few years ago and it's a memory I'll never forge -- even though we hit no cows on the landing.

Sir Bowie "hat in the ring" of GreenbriarSir Bowie of Greenbriar (a.k.a.
